Frequently Asked Questions

Common Queries to Adventure Accessories

Why Adventure Accessories?

I created Adventure Accessories in 2018 when I took a career break and changed direction in life. I am a keen outdoor enthusiast and was frustrated with high street brand accessories that were not practical and plain, so I set about making my own. Combining a passion for adventure with a love of crafts, Adventure Accessories creates unique handcrafted, fun and functional, gifts for outdoor enthusiasts.

Where are you based?

Adventure Accessories is a successful creative handmade business based in Carmarthenshire, South Wales and shipping is available worldwide.

What materials do you use?

I use a variety of materials and enjoy experimenting with different media.

*Faux Leather

*Cork Fabric

*Cotton Fabric

*Cotton Thread

*Type II 425 Paracord

What is Paracord?

Paracord is short for parachute cord. A lightweight nylon rope used in the suspension lines of parachutes. Now used as a general utility cord both by military personnel and civilians. Popular with bushcraft and wild camping enthusiasts. Woven into braided bracelets for either a fashion accessory or as an easy way of carrying when adventuring, they are designed to be unravelled and used when needed. Also made into strong hard-wearing dog collars for your adventure companions. Read more reasons to wear Paracord Bracelets.

Paracord Dog Collars - It is a requirement that all dogs wear a collar with an ID tag attached when out in public in the UK. We would recommend when adventuring with dogs that your dog wears a suitable harness for attaching the lead to, rather than using the collar, as this is more comfortable for your dog, allowing them to enjoy their adventures with you.

Does Paracord shrink when wet?

Paracord can shrink a little when wet, but it also has a natural tendency to stretch a little too, so you can always re-shape your bracelet or dog's collar as it dries to be sure it continues to fit.

What are the washing instructions for crochet items?

The washing instructions are shown on the product listings on my website. Although the yarn I use states machine washing at 40C, I recommend my products are handwash only to prevent shrinkage or stretching.

Is your packaging eco-friendly?

I am conscious of using recyclable and sustainable packaging for my products. The PIP boxes are made from recycled cardboard and are recyclable. I also try to re-use boxes that I receive through the post myself, so occasionally you may see some slight wear and tear to your packaging but I am sure you will understand this no way affects the quality of your carefully wrapped items inside. The tissue paper is non-bleached and also recyclable and I also use shredded card packing that is reused from items I have received in the post. I do not charge you for packing costs, I only charge shipping at cost and prices are taken from the Royal Mail Prices Guide published in March each year.
